Posnett Golf Lends its Support!!
Posnett Golf is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with the NI Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC). The local charity supports children, teenagers and young adults up to 24 years living with cancer, as well as their parents, siblings and other family members.
Every week in Northern Ireland, another three children, teenagers and young people are diagnosed with cancer; by teaming up with the NICFC, Posnett Golf will host events such as a charity golf tournament to help NICFC continue delivering practical, emotional, social, financial and educational support, to families across Northern Ireland.
A little bit about NICFC…
NI Cancer Fund for Children Services:
NICFC’s Youth Programme offers a range of social and educational activities for children, teenagers and young adults affected by cancer through residential and community events designed to build self-confidence, personal development and resilience. The programme also provides support to siblings as well as to children whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer.
The Family Programme comprises of a team of professionals trained to assess the individual needs of families. Offering a holistic package of care, they can draw up a tailored programme of support and offer one-to-one support to parents throughout their child’s cancer journey.
Financial assistance: NICFC provides a range of financial grants to help families pay for travel expenses to hospitals, travel for treatment outside Northern Ireland and home heating costs.
Narnia is a purpose-built 24 berth log cabin located in the grounds of Shimna Valley. Named after the imaginary world created especially for children by CS Lewis, Narnia provides a magical location for a varied programme of youth activities and residential events.
Respite Facilities: 
Nestled at the foot of the Mourne Mountains, Shimna Valley Village in Newcastle Co. Down offers a tranquil setting for families to escape the everyday realities of cancer trauma cancer inflicts on their lives. The whole family can enjoy a relaxing break at this catered accommodation facility, either during their child’s treatment or after its completion. For those families wising to enjoy a break together in a more private setting, the NICFC has two self-catering cottages, Pine and Birch Cottages, situated on the outskirts of Coleraine. Each unique cottage offers families a self-catering break in privacy to recharge their batteries.
